2017 $5,000 Landscape Renovation Contest Rules

NO PURCHASE NECESSARY TO ENTER OR WIN. A PURCHASE WILL NOT INCREASE YOUR CHANCES OF WINNING. ALL STATE, FEDERAL, LOCAL, AND MUNICIPAL LAWS AND REGULATIONS APPLY.

1. ELEGIBILITY
$5,000 Landscape Renovation Contest is open to legal residents of the 19th Ward of Chicago who are at least 18 years old at time of entry. Employees of William Quinn & Sons and immediate family members of employees are not eligible. Contest is limited to single-family homes.

2. SPONSOR
The Contest is sponsored by William Quinn & Sons, Inc. Landscape Contractors located at 3860 W. 127th St. in Alsip, IL 60803.

3. AGREEMENT TO OFFICIAL RULES
Participation in the $5,000 Renovation Contest constitutes entrants full and unconditional agreement to and acceptance of these Official Rules and the decisions of the Sponsor, which are final and binding. Winning the Contest is contingent upon being compliant with these Official Rules and fulfilling all other requirements set forth herein.

4. CONTEST PERIOD
The Contest begins on March 6, 2017 at 12:00AM Central Standard Time and officially ends on May 15, 2017. All entries submitted before (Monday) March 6, 2017 at 12:00AM Central Standard Time or after (Friday) April 21, 2017 (henceforth known as The Entry Phase) will be disqualified. Submissions to the Contest will be accepted for the duration of The Entry Phase of the Contest (March 6 – April 21) using any of the following methods: Website Submission. Submissions to the Contest via any other method including but not limited to: Electronic Mail, Facebook, Pinterest, Twitter, USPS Mail, FedEx Mail, Hand Delivery, will not be accepted.

5. HOW TO ENTER
Limit one (1) entry per household for the duration of the Contest Period. Entries received from any household in excess of the stated limitation will be void.

To enter one must produce a video answering the question “Why choose my/our home?”. The video should be uploaded to one of three video sharing websites: Youtube, Vimeo, or DailyMotion. The video is then submitted to our website at http://www.williamquinnandsons.com/2017-landscape-makeover-contest/. One (1) video per household may be submitted. Video may be resubmitted prior to start of The Voting Phase (April 21-May15), however only one video per household may enter The Voting Phase. The entry must show the front of the entrant’s home (not for the entirety of the video, but at least once) or the entry will be deemed void.

All videos will be approved prior to allow the submission to be viewed on our website. This process can take up to 24 hours for approval and is required to ensure the “family friendliness” of the video.

Voting begins on April 21, 2017 and ends May 15, 2017 henceforth known as “The Voting Phase.”

All entries must be accompanied by: The Entrant’s Name, The Entrant’s Home Address, The Entrant’s Email Address, and The Entrant’s Primary Phone Number. Only Entrant’s Name will be publicly available on our website. The rest of the information is maintained in our backend for the purposes of contacting the top ten (10) entries and/or Contest winner.

6. HOW TO WIN
The top ten (10) entries will be announced, notified, and sent to our second round – The Judging Round – on or around May 15, 2017. Judging Round will take place the weekend of May 27, 2016 to allow for the verification of all votes for the top ten (10) entrants. Top entries will be judged based on the following criteria:

  • The visual impact a landscape renovation would make to the property
  • How convincing the argument “Why choose my/our home?” is
  • Eligibility of the entrant
  • Is the video “family friendly”?
  • Creativeness of video
  • Need of landscape makeover
  • Does the video show the entrant’s exterior home?

After the Entry Phase of our contest has completed (April 21), the top ten (10) winners will be chosen based on the quantity of votes – “Likes” – for their entry. Votes are limited to 1 per IP address, or registered user of our website, for the duration of the contest. Voters may vote for more than one entrant, but not multiple times for the same entrant.

Voting will be allowed until End of Day May 15, 2017. Any vote placed after this time will be considered void.

After the Voting Phase of our contest has completed (May 15), the top ten (10) entries will continue to the second round – The Judging Round. Judges will rate a video based on the criteria listed above on a scale of one (1) to five (5). The contestant with the highest score at the end of the Judging Round will be declared the winner. Judges will be comprised of outside individuals not associated with William Quinn & Sons. No employees, or immediate family members of employees, will comprise the panel of Judges.

Final winner and judges’ marks will be announced on or around May 29, 2017.

7. WINNER NOTIFICATION
The winner will be notified by our website, email, or phone. The potential winner will be required to complete, sign, and submit a Declaration of Compliance within seven (7) days of the date of notice or attempted notice is sent in order to claim the prize of the Contest. If the potential winner cannot be contacted, or fails to submit the Declaration of Compliance within the required time period, the potential winner forfeits prize. The Sponsor reserves the right to award the prize to the next highest (first runner up) in its full amount. If the potential winner is not a legal resident of the 19th Ward in Chicago, is not at least 18 years of age, or in any way provided incorrect or falsified information during entry, the potential winner forfeits prize. The prize will be fulfilled approximately 8-10 weeks after the completion of the contest.

8. PRIZES
The Contest Winner will receive a Front Yard Landscaping Home Makeover. The value of the Grand Prize is “up to” $5,000. Grand Prize holds no cash value and cannot be traded or redeemed for cash. No exceptions and the prize is non-transferrable. Sponsor will not award alternate prize. Sponsor cannot guarantee final outcome of makeover. All expenses not specified herein are the responsibility of the Contest Winner. Landscape renovation will be at the sole discretion of William Quinn and Sons.

Unilock has donated up to 300 Square Feet (300 FT2) of classic pavers to the winner of our contest. The retail value of this is approximately $4,500, including installation costs. The placement of the pavers will be at the sole discretion of William Quinn & Sons and its designers with input from the winning homeowner(s).

9. CONDITIONS OF ENTRY
Use of winner’s name: Winner must allow Sponsor to use photographs and/or videos of the home, and name, in any future marketing conducted by the Sponsor including, but not limited to: newspaper articles, Sponsor’s website, e-mail marketing, or Newspaper/Magazine advertisements.

Release Sponsor of Liability: By entering, contestants agree to release William Quinn & Sons Inc from any claim, loss, liability, damage or injury of any kind arising from their participation in the contest or the receipt or use of the Grand Prize.

No Prize Substitutions: No substitute prizes are available. Sponsor may, at its discretion, extend the Landscaping Makeover to include side or back yard of home.

10. INTERNET
Sponsor not responsible for network or computer malfunction, error, computer virus or damage caused to participant’s computer by access contest website. If for any reason, the internet-related portion of this contest is not capable of running as planned, including infection by computer virus, tampering, fraud, technical failure, or any other cause which corrupts or threatens the administration, security or integrity of the contest, William Quinn & Sons reserves the right, in its sole discretion, to terminate or suspend the Contest or any portion of the Contest. In the event Sponsor terminates the contest prior to end date, Sponsor will post notice of its action on the Contest website and will pick a winner in a random drawing from the top ten (10) entrants. ANY ATTEMPT TO DAMAGE OR UNDERMINE THE FAIR AND LEGITIMATE OPERATION OF THIS CONTEST WILL RESULT IN DISQUALIFICATION FROM THE CONTEST.

11. DISPUTES
Each entrant agrees that any and all disputes, claims and causes of action arising out of, or connected with the Contest or any prize awarded shall be resolved individually, without resort to any form of class action or other legal action. Sponsor holds the right to void eligibility of entrant for any reason.
